Reproductive Justice

What is Reproductive Justice?

Reproductive Justice entails a couple core principles, all centered around a human rights framework.

The ability to decide if and when to have a baby as well as the conditions to raise kids

How to parent the children that they already have within the necessary, safe communities without fear of violence from individuals nor the government

The ability to decide if they do not wish to have a child, and how to prevent/end a pregnancy

How is that Different from Reproductive Rights?

The main difference is that Justice focuses on more than just the right to abortion. Historically, the Rights Movement has been the White mainstream that minorities and women of color do not feel welcomed in. Most focus is centered solely around contraception and access to abortion, while the Reproductive Justice Movement places priority on a much wider range of issues.
